For sale is a historic Dutch shooting-club prize medal from 1908, awarded by the Schutters Vereeniging “Oranje Nassau” of The Hague / Loosduinen area. The medal reads:
Obverse: “SCHUTTERS VEREENIGING ORANJE NASSAU” with a crowned shield and heron figure.
Reverse: “HOOFDKORPSWEDSTRYD – 300 PUNTEN – LOOSDUINEN 1908” (i.e., main corps match – 300 points – Loosduinen 1908).
It is a fine example of early 20th-century Dutch marksmanship/competition medals, representing the tradition of sharpshooters’ associations (scherpschutters) in the Netherlands. The medal remains in very good vintage condition: the loop/ring is intact, the inscription is clear, and the finish retains good colour. No major damage or cleaning visible (from pictures).
