Antique French hornet or wasp brooch. Acquired from a private estate collection, this figural pin is circa the early 1900s and depicts a large winged insect. The wings and body have intricate carved detail. Jewelry of this style is often attributed to Parisian designer Elizabeth Bonté, who was inspired by René Lalique, however, this individual piece is unsigned. Brass pin closure on back with hand-forged catch. 2” length and 1.75” width. Good pre-owned condition with some patina and light surface wear commensurate with age.
