James Parton (1912-2001), was instrumental in the founding of American Heritage Magazine and was its president and publisher for many years. During WWII, he was assigned to be aide to General Ira Eaker who was Chairman of US Army Air Force Commission for Publications. One of these publications was a classified confidential monthly magazine titled "Impact". Impact was distributed to US Army Air Force Squadrons with restricted access due to nature of wartime information reported.

By 1980, the information was declassified and Mr. Parton copyrighted and published copies of the magazine. In 1989, an expanded edition was published sponsored by The Air Force His
