The US Navy issued denim workwear starting in the early 20th century. This shawl collar jacket is an example from around the time of World War I. While there are slight differences in the sewing compared to later variations, the true beauty of this piece lies in the stenciling.
The initials on the cuffs may be the sailor's name. The stencil on the back indicates an airbase in Minnesota.
The incredible fading is also a characteristic. White stenciling on denim is common, but black is not often seen, and it's interesting to me.
We loved recreating this. We hope you enjoy it too.

From the 2022 Fall/Winter collection, this is a collaboration between John Gluckow, a vintage dealer based on the East Coast of the United States, and WAREHOUSE.
