These appearances led to engagements in New York clubs and roles in television and Off- Broadway. Remus was a big influence on Phyllis Diller and was responsible for starting Maya Angelou on her career as a professional singer by arranging gigs for her at the Purple Onion. This exceptional album, recorded in 1960, offers a rare glimpse at her formidable comedy skills. All selections newly remastered.
