Inspired by classic B-horror movie titles, Monster Fonts have found use in both elegant masquerades and casual items like Liquid Smoke bottles. The House team also drew inspiration from Brigantine Castle ads, Misfits album art, Creature Double Feature, and Aurora monster kits. David Coulson completed the alphabets using India ink, rubber cement, and illustration board. The initial limited-edition package, based on Aurora monster kits, included an early commercial painting by House artist Adam Cruz, depicting Lon Chaney's Phantom, approved by the actor's grandson, Ron Chaney.
