Did you know Peridot is created in Earths Mantle? It’s brought to the surface through volcanic eruptions & found in basalt. It has been mined since Egyptian times & the gems were called “night emeralds” as their bright fire & vivid green color glows even in the dark of night. I always thought of this as something from out of this world & in fact it’s from inside our world! In Cleopatras personal collection of emeralds (which was said to be the largest collection in the world at that time) it was discovered that some of the gems were in fact peridots of such a deep green color they were mistaken for the more fragile gem!
