Shinro Ohtake ATLanta 1945+50
An artist book project by five contemporary artists for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games (Cultural Olympiad). Ohtake stayed in Atlanta from August to October 1995, collecting objects, taking his own photographs, and incorporating images of Japan. These were printed in fluorescent colors on used billboard paper collected locally, along with five other types of paper. The book includes 27 separately printed photographs pasted in by hand, and a set of two books with a miniature book (32pp, fluorescent 4-color, silver + black) attached to the bookmark thread, which evokes the image of Japan. Limited edition of 1,500 copies.
The use of a black light is recommended when viewing this book.
