Signed first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire (ReganBooks / HarperCollins, 1995). Very rare true first edition of this retelling of the fantasy classic, The Wizard of Oz, now popularized again by the hit film franchise starring Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande. Signed and inscribed “wickedly yours” by Maguire on half title page. With illustrations throughout by Douglas Smith.

Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some staining to outer edges, and wi h chipping, creases and small tears especially around edges and around cutout in center of front cover. Boards straight and fairly clean but with wear around the edges and with bumped corners. Some soiling to outer edges of text block, with some stains extending deeper into the pages themselves (the worst of which is photographed above). See photos for condition. Packaged with care.
