Box set of the first mass market paperback edition (various printings) of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (Ballantine Books, 1971). Contains the complete original high fantasy trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring (31st print) / The Two Towers (29th print) / The Return of the King (29th print). With beautiful cover art by Barbara Remington. Moderate wear to covers, especially around the edges and most notably to Fellowship, which has larger tears and creases than the others. Box is moderately worn as well and has some chipping, creases, tears and bumps. Some chipping around spine edges and reading creasing to Fellowship. Split binding to Fellowship as well although all pages remain attached. Faint liquid damage to top edge of text block for Fellowship causing faint waviness and slight staining. Two Towers & Return have stamped digits to top and bottom outer edges of text block. Tanning pages. See photos.
