Vintage Crucifix

This is a wooden cross and resin type material Christs body Catholic crucifix used for extreme unction or last rights for those dying at home. In the case of there not being a priest available in time then the family could give the last rights to the person themselves. It has two slots for candles a slot for the host and a compartment for holy water mini prayer book and a Rosary. Sadly those items were lost long ago as this item belonged to my grandmother in the 1960s. She explained it to me when I was a child. But you can replaced these items yourself now that you know what came inside. This crucifix hangs very nicely on a wall and only opens when you want to use it. L- 16”. W- 10”. Made in Rome.
