This vase utilizes the Ginbari cloisonné technique, where a textured metal foil (often silver) is applied to the vase's body before the translucent enamel is fired over it, creating a shimmering effect and depth to the color. It has a dragon image below the enamel.
The vibrant, deep red color is a hallmark of "Pigeon Blood" cloisonné, a highly sought-after shade developed by Japanese artisans, particularly during the Meiji and Showa periods (late 19th to mid-20th century).
Approx 6" tall x 3.25" wide.
There is a spot where there is no enamel on one side and to the left of it a possible crack, see photos. Despite the flaws, a truly beautiful piece.
